My name is Rubina Likanna, an International Student and I came to Sweden in 2009 to study in the Lund University. Now, I hold a Bachelor Degree and two Master Degrees from Lund University. My Bachelor degree is in the field of Development Studies with a major in Political Science, a Master Degree in the field of Welfare Policies and Management.
During my Bachelor program, first term exam, I wrote a course paper and the professor in charge of the course wrote a comment in my paper which reads “You provided a Sweeping Narrative” and the Professor graded the paper “F” which means fail. I went to his office not to ask why I failed, but to ask him to explain what he meant by sweeping narrative because I have never heard such word. He told me that my paper lacked analytical rigor, I became confused. I asked him again politely, Sir, what do you mean by analytical rigor, he said, your paper lacked logical argument. I was now totally confused.
At first, Sweeping Narrative made me wonder, analytical rigor made me perplexed while logical argument totally confused me. I left his office without further question or comment. Since then, on various occasions, I have had the opportunity to ask different lecturers what the three terms: sweeping narrative, analytical rigor and logical argument mean for a course paper? Some told me that, I should always problematize the issue, some said, always present your points lucidly in your discussion while others said I should, avoid being descriptive. None of these people help me to understand what I should do in order to write a good academic paper, rather, they complicated the problem. It was in search of answers to my problem that I met Dr. James E. Conable, the Editor-in-Chief JECedit. The author of “A Handbook on How to Improve Your Academic Writing Skills.” Dr. Conable helped me greatly to understand the three troubling words and guided me to write Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. Since then, I have improved in my writing skills.
Therefore, I would recommend JECedit SE, and “A Handbook on How to Improve Your Academic Writing Skills” to any student who need help in their academic writing. James has a way to communicate the solutions to handle research and academic writing skills to students. If you are in my situation, they can help you to achieve best result.

My name is Kenneth, some friends call me, Ken Munch. I am an International Students and I studied International Relations in Malmö University Sweden. It took me three years to write my Bachelor Thesis because I did not know what to write about. One day a friend took me to a Church known as Christian City Church in Malmö, Sweden and there, I met another friend who introduced me to James Conable, the Editor-in-Chief of JECedit. I had a good conversation with him after the service. He told me to meet him in the Lund University Library. Next day, I went to his office in Lund to meet with him, then, they had no website. After discussing with Conable again, I was confident that I have finally found the right person to help me for my thesis.
To begin with, James gave me a small book titled “A Handbook on How to Improve Your Academic Writing Skills.” He is the author of the title. When I got home, I started reading it with the determination to be inspired. It was from that book that I became completely convinced that the person who wrote the book is capable to handle the challenges that I was facing. It was not long, after I registered with them and being guided by Dr. Conable, I wrote an excellent Bachelor thesis and I got a distinction in my thesis. Thanks James and JECedit for helping me to become proud of myself. I cannot vouch for so many of the editors who are now working in the company, but I can guarantee hundred percent that if Dr. Conable guide you to write your thesis you will pass your thesis with distinction.
